My Work

About Chastity...
Have you had any formal training?: I took every art class in High School and broke every rule given. I feel that getting up everyday wanting nothing else but to create defines me as an artist.
Where do you draw your Inspiration from?: The images just pop in my head, full color. I put them on paper until I have some paint to work with. My writing is similar, it is straight from the gut. It takes a while to build up the energy to write. Once I feel that urge to write it just flows out of me.
Are you working on any other projects?: I have plenty of sketches to start a whole new set of paintings. I am hoping to drum up some attention in local galleries this coming year. I'm more interested in being seen than anything else. I am collecting all my poems for a couple of small poetry books. I am hoping to be able to add my own illustrations. I'd also like to work on a mural at some point.
Who are your favorite artists?: Georgia O' Keefe, Mark Rothko; Edvard Munch
Are you working on any other projects?: I have a collage that I am putting together at present, since I am fresh out of paint. It is a personal project but I don't mind sharing when it is complete.
My work is a reflection of my own inner expressions. They are images of feelings I can not express in words. For me, art is a way to unload. I never try to contain art. There are no rules, no boundaries and no end to what can be done. I am not interested in becoming a "call artist" where one is asked to create what another thinks up. I always want to be on the edge of something new and unique. I want to bend and break the rules until whatever it is I labor at inside of me is given birth to. I do not want to paint by number.
