About Jill...
Through magazine ads, television and films, we are constantly bombarded with images of women so thin, they are almost skeletons. The ''ideal'' body type valued by our society is much different than the ''ideal'' body type of Botticelli's era. No matter how healthy you are, how much you work out, or how well you eat, our society says you can lose more weight.
My work addresses the concept of ''ideal'' beauty, and the value our society has for the ''ideal'' body type. Referencing Greek vessels (which are thought to be ideal forms), as well as music, skeletons, magazine ads, runway models, and celebrities I suggest that our ''ideal'' form is skeletal.
