About Sara & Kelly...

NickelCityGirls design is the brainchild of Kelly O’Shei and Sara DiNatale.

After a long friendship and years of creating for themselves and their families, the duo finally decided to ‘take it to the streets’ in the summer of 2008.  Love of antiques, vintage design and the principles of re-use and recycle is what goes into each piece they create.

Kelly has a BA in Sociology from Buffalo State College, and loves the interaction with people that the creative world brings.

Sara has a variety of Fine Art courses under her belt, and is currently completing her degree in Medical Imaging.

Both were raised by parents that had power tools and knew how to use them.

As for what inspires them?  Each piece speaks to them and evolves organically. A scrap of fabric, a leftover gallon of paint…usually what they have on hand, or what they have salvaged goes into a piece. “Buffalo had a lot of wealth, and a lot of well made furniture …stuff you can’t find other places in the country…stuff that people have looked at so long in their basements or their Grandmother’s homes….that they just set it to the curb.  We rethink that stuff, and give people a new way to look at it….hopefully with an artistic flair”.
