Contemporary Portraits and Figure Paintings
Paul Rybarczyk works with the image of the human figure. His emphasis is on the male figure and contemporary portrait paintings. These images frequently feature the person or people in some unguarded or relaxed moment. He often chooses non-realistic colors to produce a “realistic” representation and often works with the space surrounding the figure to produce a merging figure/space relationship.
He prefers to work quickly and seldom returns to a painting after several sessions. He attempts to depict the immediateness of his response to what he’s seeing and feeling.
He has a BFA in drawing from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
He has worked in advertising design and writing for 25 years and as a Licensed Massage Therapist for the last 14 years. With the construction of his new studio, he has recently returned to painting after many years of intermittent work.
